HIV SEROLOGY

Effective Tuesday January 26th the Immunology laboratory will begin in-house HIV serologic testing (ELISA and Western blot confirmation). Packets for testing may be obtained from Specimen Receiving (4-2616). These packets include; HIV testing patient consent form, HIV test requisition form, and a special blood drawing tube. The old requisition forms from SmithKline cannot be used for in-house testing. Any questions may be referred to Immunology at 4-3744.

As many of you know, this test is highly regulated by the NY State Department of Health . In order to facilitate the ordering process and avoid delays due to procedural errors, the Laboratory is offering an In-service lecture on the "HIV Testing Process". It is strongly recommended that at least one person from each Unit/Mod attend, although all are welcome. There will be five offerings of this one hour In-Service. 1/29/99 10-11am and 3-4pm, 2/3/99 7-8am and 12-1pm, 2/4/99 5-6pm. The seminar will be held in the Level 3 Laboratory conference room in the Hospital.
