Absolute Percent Expression of Adhesion Molecules on unstimulated Granulocytes
Adhesion Molecule Tested  Patient  Control
CD18A-1 beta chain adhesion molecule) 100 100
CD11b (C3bi receptor) 98 100
CD11c (CR4) 96 100

Upregulation of Adhesion molecule (CD11b) density after Stimulation with PMA
Subject Tested MPC - unstimulated MPC - stimulated Stimulation Index
Healthy Control  78            2344                  30
Patient - Twin #1  309            1159                   4

Interpretation of Results - The patient exhibits normal absolute expression of all adhesion molecules tested.  However, when the antigen density (mean peak channel fluorescence- MPC) is examined, the patient unstimulated appears to express over four times the antigen density as the healthy control. The granulocytes appear to be up regulated in vivo to a degree thereby limiting the final stimulation index value (see histograms below). However, the stimulation index is just within the normal range (SI=3-30).
